How Did Schwa Potter Go from Broadway to Officiant?

Schwa has always loved being on stage. When he was eight years old he looked at his Mom and said "Mother, I will be an actor, and I will be on Broadway." It took twenty years, but in 2011 he made his Broadway debut in Mary Poppins the Musical. Along the way he performed on Disney Cruise Line, worked in TV, and toured the country with theater productions.

Schwa loved being a professional actor, but he always wanted to run his own business. Then his sister asked him to officiate her wedding. It was his first ceremony, and he fell for it the same way he fell for singing and dancing. To Schwa, a wedding ceremony is a show where the theme is always connection and family. These are a few of his favorite things.

Now, 500+ weddings later, Schwa knows how to read a couple and build the day around them. A Signature Ceremony starts with who you are and why you love each other. Your history, your inside jokes, your people. All of it goes in. From there it's about the vibe, the energy, and careful preparation.

Let's make your ceremony one to remember.

Why Does Theatrical Training Make a Better Wedding Officiant?

A Broadway actor is at home behind a microphone. Here's what 30+ years on stage brings to your ceremony.

Voice & Projection

Clear, warm, and easy to hear. Every word carries to the back row, or to that one guest who wandered too far from the gazebo.

Poise Under Pressure

Forget the script? Ring bearer drops the rings? Someone faints? Schwa has been in live theater long enough to handle anything without breaking stride.

Every Script Feels Live

Actors train for years to make written words feel spontaneous. However carefully the script was built, it will sound like Schwa means every word. He does.

Reading the Room

Theater training means knowing when to slow down, when to let a laugh breathe, and when to lean into a moment. Your guests will feel it.

The Script Is the Start

For a Signature Ceremony, Schwa goes deep on your story before he writes a word. Every Signature Ceremony is researched, written from scratch, and rehearsed.

Comfort for Every Couple

Schwa has married couples of every kind: gay, lesbian, bi, trans, nonbinary, straight, interfaith. No judgment, no agenda.

"Multiple people asked us how long we had known them, which is a true testament to how thorough they are when gathering information about us and our story. The whole process was easy and care-free. I would definitely recommend Schwa to anyone looking for a wedding officiant!"
